Glitter Dragon is the hottest thing in Murfreesboro since the 107-degree heat index over the last month.
The three-piece band consists of Mike “Meezie Weezie” Woods playing the Rage- Against-the-Machine guitar and delivering vocals that will make the hairs on your neck stand on end, Chris “Hammy” Hamilton on the Michael-Jackson keys and loops and Coco “Cuda Tooth” Monroe playing a drum set that would make Animal from The Muppets consider quitting his day job.
This new band mixes a synth/dance sound with thunderous guitars and screaming vocals . . . and tight jeans, colorful shoes and hair with flair?picture the Powerpuff Girls joining Devo and covering Nine Inch Nails songs.
And Glitter Dragon is all about the live show. What good is a band without an amazing live set?
How many shows have you been to and seen fans shoe staring or standing with their arms crossed? Glitter Dragon’s shows are the polar opposite, the crowds are like a bunch of monkeys running around with hand grenades exploding around them whenever the bass drum hits.
Next time you see Glitter Dragon you better bring your dancing shoes and lace them up tight because you’ll need them. Glitter Dragon will slay the stage at the Next Big Nashville Music Festival at Mercy Lounge on Sept. 8. They are also opening for Mindless Self Indulgence at Rcktwn on Sept. 9 and will play at Wall Street in the ’Boro on Sept. 15.
