Soft, nondescript waves of soothing music stream from an unseen stereo as the participants?about 12 people?filter past a curtain and into the back room of Stonekeepers. Suspended with hempish twine, three large clear crystals hang from the center of the ceiling above a bed of pillows.
These Lemurian seed crystals are the focus of tonight’s workshop, and events coordinator Chip Flippin is guiding the group for the service, scheduled in accordance with May’s blue moon.
As Flippin dims the lights, he explains the history of Lemurian crystals and prepares us for a pretty heady meditative journey.
“It is believed these crystals were planted by the Lemurian people long ago. They reveal themselves in turbulent times and bring a sense of peace to those who use them,” explains Flippin.
Lemuria, a fabled ancient civilization believed to have sunk beneath the Pacific Ocean thousands of years ago, focused much more on emotional and spiritual dimensions than our world. Coded with the Lemurian consciousness vibrations, these crystals help one to bridge the Earth plane and the higher astral and spiritual realms.
Ready to ascend?
Flippin and his assistant, Ryan “Petrie” West, assemble a grid by strategically placing crystals at the corners and to the sides of the pillows. This grid is basically a map assembled around a central location that allows the participant to go into a trance-like state. Grids can be built for health and spiritual purposes, but this one brings peace, love and tranquility.
Sweet smoke of Peruvian palo santo wood fills the room as they place giant cloudy white quartz bowls and mallets at the head and foot of the bed.
The first volunteer lays down, holding two crystals, one in each hand, and Flippin places a small triangular crystal on her forehead. This stimulates the brow’s sixth chakra, or Third Eye, which unlocks insight, intuition and wisdom. With the sixth chakra activated, one can better receive visions and other incoming information from the Lemurian consciousness. Now Flippin spins the suspended crystals in a circle above the meditator and the ritual begins.
Petrie runs a mallet around the top of the head bowl, creating a deep, resonating buzz. Imagine someone running a wet finger atop a wine glass, except this wine glass is thick, gallons large and empty. The smaller, higher-pitched foot bowl chimes in periodically with a “bong” sound.
The meditation continues for as long as the hanging crystals spin, and when they stop, Flippin removes the Third Eye stone. After coming back to reality, the participant, smiling, looks as though she just woke up, fresh with Lemurian enlightenment. Words like celestial, fuzzy, ethereal and powerful journey describe the vibe in the room. One guy sees a vision of a forest, peaceful and still. Another hears children laughing.
“I saw a giant crystal grid like Stonehenge, but under water or trapped in ice,” describes Heather White after her meditation. While she doesn’t exactly know what it means, it felt good and very peaceful.
Whatever you believe or whatever makes you happy, Stonekeepers offers a variety of items and activities on a different wavelength. So if you’re ready for the next level, bring a positive attitude with a very open mind and take a stroll down the metaphysical path.
