That Four Letter Word

I’d like to state something.

Murfreesboro is a very unique city for having four live theaters available to the public for shows.

I’d like to state something else.

While I think that all of the theaters do a good job accordingly, only one theater is bold enough to tackle every taboo in the public’s eye.

Who is this theater? I’ll give you a hint: You’ll find them Out Front on Main.

Out Front on Main, which proudly continues a seven-year tradition of not giving a damn, is heating things up while temperatures drop with That Four Letter Word, a play written and directed by Out Front’s very own Ryan Vogel.

The play focuses on seven people whose love lives have intertwined, nay, twisted into a yarn-work of agony, envy, despair, hate and identity loss. The play focuses on two of the friends who are actually getting married. The love of two creates a rippling of discord amongst the other friends, who are ultimately united in their dissatisfaction of the couple’s happiness.

What’s great about this play is how original and experimental it is. Everyone likes a classic, but if we want more people to attend theater, we need to promise them something they don’t normally see in theaters (be it for plays or movies). It’s unapologetic and very much so willing to explore the nasty side of love.

The play runs until Nov. 11, and curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. For ticket information, check out outfrontonmain.com. Also, find them on Facebook so you can keep up with their show schedules.
