Group of mothers brings strollers to meet and walk.
If you are a mother who wants to blend your passion for fitness with motherhood, Stroller Strides is the perfect exercise program for you. It’s a fun way to work out, promote family fitness and provide social support for mothers.
During this 60-minute class, which meets five times a week at Leslie Hall School of Dance on Battleground Drive, mothers achieve a total body workout and their babies have fun. The class is a great workout for any level of exerciser. It includes power walking and intervals of body toning using exercise tubing and the stroller. Stroller Strides is classified not only as a fitness class, but also as a support program with the intention of helping women succeed in their new role as moms.
The only things needed for this class are your baby and a stroller. It is suggested you bring water, a towel or mat for ground exercises, and appropriate clothing and sun block for the weather.
The program provides a healthy role model for kids to experience fitness right from the start and can help moms who are experiencing postpartum depression through exercise and social support.
Certified instructors who are also moms teach Stroller Strides all across the country. Sunshine Dobratz opened the first Stroller Strides franchise in the Murfreesboro area in August 2007 after taking her first class. As a mother of two, Dobratz said she had trouble fitting exercise into her hectic life schedule. Stroller Strides offered her the opportunity to incorporate exercise and socialization for her and her children at the same time.
