Faint Memory

I’ve known you before
In a land I can’t quite remember
But you are familiar
With your cyclic tattoo.
My ring bothers you
For you recognize things too
From a past that you can’t quite grasp
As my fingertips float away from you.
Swimming in your eyes brings me
closer to my deepest needs
as the heat rises up,
out of my lips onto yours
and you meet me on our shore.
You remember me?
I know it,
In little things, like my ring spinning in your fingers?
ever so smoothly
like the silk on my 3,000-year-old bed
of Dust
that carries on to this day.
You yearn for me
And hate to leave me.
I thought, coming from the highest scorpion, that you
would feel less familiar
When you finally came around, but in fact
I now know I knew you too true.
