Third grade is never easy, especially if you’re Ramona Quimby from Klickitat Street. Follow this beloved children’s book character through her many misadventures as she tries to deal with her argumentative sister, a new and unexpected uncle, her parents’ struggles with money, and rivalries at school. Things are not going the way Ramona wants them to, and her family puts a lot of pressure on her to “grow up,” but she uses her imagination to solve her problems and learns to love her family despite their imperfections.
A strong cast and a strong lead role really fill these adorable characters with personality and vitality. It was quite a laugh to see young adults acting like 9-year-olds, and doing it well.
Dr. Jette Halladay and her cast of 20 MTSU students put on an entertaining and heart-warming show. This is a family-friendly production, but any age will enjoy the performance.
Remember, “It’s really tough being a grown up, but being a kid trying to be a grown-up is even harder.”
Tickets to evening performances of Ramona Quimby may be purchased at the door of Tucker Theatre. Ticket prices range from $4 to $8. The lobby opens for ticket sales at 6:30 p.m. on the evening of each performance. MTSU students will be admitted free of charge with a valid MTSU ID. In addition to the evening performances on Feb. 23-24, Ramona Quimby will also be performed in daytime matinees for school groups at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Feb. 20-23.
