“Making America’s Music” at Discovery Center
“Making America’s Music,” the national touring exhibition created by The Children’s Museum of Boston and The Boston Symphony Orchestra, will remain at Discovery Center through Sept. 5. This 2,500 square foot international traveling exhibition celebrates the joy and diversity of American music and the people who make and enjoy it. Designed to promote a lifelong love and appreciation of music and to encourage active participation in music making, the exhibition is filled with hands-on, ears-wide-open fun in playful settings that evokes the flavor and spirit of musical genres from classical to country, from rock to rap.
The exhibit consists of several “environments,” each with its own interactive components, including a jazz club, a streetscape where even the fence is a musical instrument, the deluxe tour bus of one of today’s major country acts, a school dance with the Twist the Conga and other styles and video interviews with artists like Harry Connick Jr., Branford Marsalis, Yo-Yo Ma, James Taylor and Boston Symphony Orchestra conductor Keith Lockhart.

Saddle Up for Project Help
“Saddle Up for Project Help,” slated for Thursday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m., on the Tower Club Level of MTSU’s Floyd Stadium, will benefit Project Help, Rutherford County’s only center-based early intervention program. Guests will be treated to a fun, casual, Western-themed evening; jeans, boots and cowboy hats are most welcome!
Entertainment will include the music of Daniel Rothwell and Jack and Diane. Nashville artist Arthur Kirkby will be on hand to create a painting during the event. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on his art, among many other items, in the silent auction.
The highlight of the evening will be the live auction of a fashionable playhouse. Terry Haynes donated the materials for the playhouse, which features the craftsmanship of Terry Gum.
Project Help is an early intervention program that offers services free of charge to families who have very young children with developmental delays or disabilities.

Rally for Jesus
The 2010 Rally for Jesus will be held Saturday, July 10, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on the Murfreesboro Public Square at the Courthouse
The event includes free food, live music and words from local pastors. Everyone is invited to this day of praise and worship. Local churches are also invited to set up a booth or table.
Top Youth Soccer Teams Play in the ’Boro
Murfreesboro will host the 2010 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, the culminating event for US Youth Soccer teams, July 8-11 at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex.
US Youth Soccer is the largest youth sports organization in the country and largest member of the United States Soccer Federation, the governing body of soccer in the United States. US Youth Soccer registers more than 3 million players annually, ages 5 to 19, and over 900,000 administrators, coaches and volunteers, and strives to provide a fun, safe and healthy environment for players at every level of the game.
The Presidents Cup gives players an opportunity to compete against teams from across the country and provides camaraderie, community and competition through sport.

Contests for Pets at July 3 Event
Hilltop Animal Rescue Team is having an Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 3, at the Petco at The Avenue in Murfreesboro from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be coloring contests for kids, as well as pet and owner contests, including best trick, cutest costume, most patriotic, pet and owner look-a-like and more. Prizes from local supporting businesses will be awarded to the winners.
And there will be plenty of homeless pets looking for loving homes.
