It seems to be a common sentiment among voters that they want someone other than a “Washington insider” or “career politician” representing them in elected office.
However, when Barack Obama or Sarah Palin comes along, cries of “inexperience” resound. It appears both of these candidates are quite different from many recent executive candidates, and the differences go well beyond gender and race. Really, both have interesting stories and have accomplished noteworthy things without coming from an incredibly rich background.
Often, citizens carry on that the president is a person of privilege who comes from the upper crust. Not to say that all people who come from families with huge money or political power don’t work hard, but I think there is some validation to the idea that if your father was governor of Texas and went to Yale, the road is probably fairly smooth for you to do the same.
But while Obama and Palin both come from modest American upbringings, do either possess the common sense the American people would want from that relatable, everyday non-Washington-insider type of a candidate?
Good job, Stones River Grill, for your sign asking us to trust someone other than a politician. Does anyone really think one of the presidential candidates will make a positive impact on them personally?
Maybe people are so wrapped up in the presidential race and so eager for politicians to make our lives better because we don’t feel like we can rely on each other anymore.

If anyone can recommend any dishes with coriander or mustard seed in them, as proud owners of a new spice rack, we could use some recipes.
I do wish the trash man picked up all the boxes though. Other than that, we’re pretty much settled down.
No one can beat the train lately. His 11-3 record in both of the past two weeks of NFL play has been enough to claim victory twice. But how long before someone takes the title.
Every pyromaniacs dream came true the as local Fireworks Supermarket?some may have laughed at the building’s offering “fireworks live on DVD,” but maybe there’s something to be said for the safer non-explodable television alternative the store advertised for so long.
