Although it may turn out to be impossible, this is an attempted review of the film Brokeback Mountain, not the controversy.

When two down-and-out cowboys gain employment guarding sheep, they find themselves alone together on a mountainside for a few months. As time wears on, their relationship develops beyond the boundaries they knew.

Now Ennis Del Mar (Ledger) and Jack Twist (Gyllenhaal) are forced to re-enter the world they once knew as strangers. In an epic love story of love in unfriendly territory, these men finds ways to hide their love from their friends and family without letting it die.

There is not an insincere line or moment in this movie. Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Proof) and Ledger (Monster’s Ball, Lords of Dogtown), who to many have already fortified their reputations as upcoming giants in the acting community, maintain high standards with their roles. Their characters denounce all stereotypes and Hollywood images and present us with real, imperfect people.

Aside from a few scenes that seem unnecessary and seem to drag, this is the perfect movie for someone who wants a real love story without all the ridiculous Hollywood plot twists.
