At least four Grinches, thousands of pieces of candy, hundreds of creative floats, dance troupes, sports teams, church groups, marching bands, classic cars, horses, two snow machines, one beautifully illuminated concrete mixer truck [a favorite of one three-year-old], and more travelled down East Main Street and around the Square for the annual Murfreesboro Christmas Parade on Sunday, Dec. 10.
A Christmas chill was in the air with temperatures in the forties, as bundled, blanketed parade goers celebrated the winter season during this fun and festive community gathering.
In its annual gesture of hospitality, volunteers from Central Christian Church offered those in attendance hot chocolate, cookies and candy canes outside of its brass-domed church building on East Main.
Dr. Gloria Bonner served as Grand Marshal of this year’s parade. Dr. Bonner spent her 44-year career in education. Thirty-two of those years were at MTSU. She retired from her position as Assistant to the President in 2017.
One parade goer said that everyone should attend the Murfreesboro Christmas Parade. The friendly vibe amongst members of the community and everyone shouting “Merry Christmas” made it one of the best events in Murfreesboro.
Oh man! I was hoping we would get in one of the pictures. Fortunately, we have a whole lot.
