Springhouse Theatre Company Presents Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice This February

Springhouse Theatre Company will present its production of Pride and Prejudice, based on the beloved novel by Jane Austen and adapted by Janet Munsil, Feb. 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22.

Led by director Heidi Buyck, this production focuses on the humanness of the characters.

“The relationships are the key part of this story, and our cast has really put in the work exploring romantic relationships, friendships, the relationship of sisters, and that of parent and child,” Buyck says. “Audiences will appreciate how this production celebrates the humor and levity of Austen’s world.”

With its sharp wit, emotional depth and memorable cast of characters, Pride and Prejudice remains a timeless story that continues to resonate across generations.

“These talented artists carry the iconic story in reverent hands while joyfully ushering the masterful language of Jane Austen into a package perfect for modern audiences,” says Charlotte Shealy, the artistic director helping Springhouse Theatre Company bring this classic to life.

Buyck is directing for the first time with Springhouse. Kristian Rarig serves as producer. Harrison Hall joins the creative team as assistant director, and Marcus Lackey rounds out the team as stage manager, guiding the production from rehearsal through performance. The cast features Haydin Olivia Oechsle as the spirited and insightful Elizabeth Bennet, opposite Brooks Bennett as the enigmatic Fitzwilliam Darcy. Zakyra Loving appears as the gentle Jane Bennet, with Harrison Roulaine Hall as the charming Charles Bingley. Kristina Ramsey brings her brilliant humor to the role of Mrs. Bennet.

Buyck points out that this is “a take that is unique and separate from the iconic 2005 film version and the 1995 series, but with elements of the story and period that audiences know and love.”

Composer Anna Hatch collaborated closely with Buyck to create original music that accompanies the telling of this beloved story.
