Tangerine Salon and Spa Awards One Lucky Customer $1,500 Worth of Services as Part of Anniversary Celebration

This summer, Tangerine Salon and Spa celebrated its 15th anniversary as a local, family-owned and operated business in Murfreesboro. The salon held “Throwback Thursday” promotions throughout July and August, extending their appreciation to the community for their support. The AVEDA Lifestyle salon and spa has been named one of the Salon Today Top 200 for five of those 15 years, and has enjoyed watching the community build up around its Thompson Lane location.

Tangerine owners Jim, Mark and Donna McCarrall, along with their staff of 32 employees, have dedicated their professional efforts to the company motto of “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself, Draw Others Up.” In an effort to “know” how they were being perceived in the community they served, Ringmaster Kara Kemp designed their anniversary celebration around the solicitation of feedback from their guests. Their OneWord promotion encouraged guests to submit one word which encapsulated what Tangerine meant to the guest. Over 500 submissions, received over the course of six weeks, were entered into a drawing.

On Aug. 15, 2015, one lucky submission was drawn to receive $1,500 worth of services at Tangerine. The winner, Terri Hooper, had jokingly said upon completion of her service that morning that she “would be sitting by the phone expecting a call that afternoon.” This was not the case—it was Mr. Hooper who answered the call; Terri, when she came to the phone, was quite shocked to learn she was the winner.

“No way,” she replied. “I never win anything! I can’t believe it!” Terri has been a customer at Tangerine for two years, ever since she moved to Murfreesboro from Chicago. She chose the word “respected” as her one word because, “the definition or respected means people value you . . . you are valued for your opinions and thoughts. That is what happens when you come into Tangerine. People listen to you, hear your questions and try to find solutions specifically for your needs.” She always feels respected, she said, when she is at the salon.
