Hemidemisemiquaver! I’ll say it again: Hemidemisemiquaver. I just wanted to print that word.
It’s the word of the month, my favorite 18-letter word I’ve come across recently, in musical notation, another name for a sixty-fourth note, or one-one hundred and twenty eighth of a breve.
Anyway, in sporting news, the eyes of the world were on Vancouver as winter athletes gathered there this past month. The Olympics provided plenty of excitement, but I can’t decide which is worse, men’s figure skating or women’s hockey. Neither really seems quite right.
But some competitors demonstrate power, skill, quickness, split second decision making, incredible athleticism, grace and beauty, and that’s just on the curling pitch! If you want to find the top tier of the world’s truly elite athletes, look no farther than the sport of curling. This event combines the excitement of bowling with the precision of darts and the dexterity of shuffleboard.
Now that the winter games are over, I hope spring is around the corner. I felt like I was in the Olympics on one of the frostier days as I slid down an icy alleyway.
My cell phone has been stolen. I feel like a man who lived in the prehistoric days pre-1996 when people weren’t expected to be on call in an instant any time of the day. So in a way, it’s kind of liberating. Maybe I’ll just cancel it. There’s no law that says you have to carry a cell phone, or is there?
My mother left a very nice message asking the fellow who seems to have mistaken my phone for his own personal property to kindly return it; to look at his conscience and consider the right course of action. Apparently he has no conscience, and is a worthless thief, unless I’m totally out of line and he has actually taken it upon himself to enhance my peace of mind and even physical health by removing a cancer causing and sometimes irritating device from my life.
Bracken Junior is getting a little more adventurous with his foods now that he has a few teeth. He even tried some of the milder curry at Lemongrass recently tagging along with his dear old parents. That boy will like to eat. Wonder where he gets that?
I’ve personally discovered this month that milk is just wonderful in coffee. It brings out a whole other character of the drink, and not only makes it absolutely delicious, milk makes coffee chugable. So, it was suggested that I try an espresso with steamed milk, a beverage also known as, in the interest of coming full circle with my weird random thoughts, a breve.
Peace,
