To Ensure You’re Insured

Dear Readers:

So, is Barack really not saying much meaningful or is the media just not displaying it? I don’t know, but I can’t say I’ve heard much of great substance from him yet.

Speaking out in opposition to the war was meaningful six years ago, but now it’s just giving people what political strategists say they want to hear.

Other than that, about all you hear about Mr. Obama in the news is: he’s a strong speaker, he has a charming personality, he’ll bring a change, he’s fresh, he’s new, he’s inspiring, he’s black. Well, OK, tell me again why he should be president?

And Gov. Romney has a valid point that Clinton has never run anything. Though he, Gov. Richardson and others liked to point out seven of the past eight presidents have been either governors or vice presidents, don’t Hillary’s eight years in the White House count as executive experience?

Perhaps Clinton has a point that health insurance should be forced upon the American people. Let’s just charge everyone the same tax and we all have coverage. But do we really want to leave the administrative burden of national health care to the U.S. federal government? Do we really want mandatory enrollment?

You could leave the option for people to enroll in the government plan, or choose a private plan, as long as everyone can show proof of coverage.

But what’s with having to produce proof of auto insurance upon demand, isn’t everyone innocent until proven guilty? I, as a driver, shouldn’t have to be forced to show proof I’m not committing a crime by driving uninsured. You prove I don’t have it, until then I’m innocent.

Unfortunately, I’ll miss both MuzikMafia night at Bluesboro and THB recording live at the Walnut House?the two featured concerts in this issue of The Pulse. This weekend, during the MuzikMafia night, I’ll be at Winterplace in West Virginia streaking down the ski slope. I’ll probably try some tubing for the first time, so look for a report on that soon.

It was pretty warm when I checked the weather in West Virginia, but it’s looking like it will be a winter wonderland. That’s part of the adventure of skiing in the Southern states, it could be 65 degrees on that hill.

The night of the THB show I’ll be playing bass myself with Taxi Driver as we finally join forces with the Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza. That’s going down at the Loudhouse, a cool new venue up in Robertson County.

The next time you call me, tell me to sit down. I’ll come out with it, I have a pacing problem, whenever the phone rings, I’m off. I’m not sure if it’s a bad habit, really. At least I’m up and moving around and getting the blood flowing during the time I can’t get anything else done. But I always end a phone conversation and wonder what I’m doing over on this side of the room.

Bonnaroo will be announcing the official lineup soon, but from their clues it appears Pearl Jam, Metallica and at least some of the members of Led Zeppelin will be present. I’m there.

Peace,

Bracken Mayo, Editor in Chief
