This is in response to the letter written in The Pulse’s Sept. 4 edition by U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon.
I loved it! I am a fiscally conservative type who finds myself voting Republican, but Gordon the Democrat has the obvious answer that many of us conservatives have been screaming for awhile: Iraq should pay to rebuild itself!
I also feel that Iraq should pay for every penny we spend in the war against Iraq. Bleed their oil fields dry if that is what it takes to get our taxpayer’s hard earned money back.

Bring Music to the ’Boro
(re: Pulse Teams with Main St. for Concert Series) I think this is totally awesome! I’m not a college student though and the only reason I found out was because the band “Framing Hanley” are coming to do a show! I usually drive to Atlanta for shows, so this is going to be awesome!! I love how the music is coming back to this town! The nightlife here has sucked for so long!
I hope this is only the beginning and we can continue to draw other bands here too! I have some bands in mind!

Editor’s Response:
Hey, you don’t have to be a college student to enjoy good music! One of The Pulse’s goals is to help bring great artists to the ’Boro, so if anyone sees Hank Williams III, The Mars Volta, Morphine, anyone associated with the Marleys?the first family of reggae?or Yonder Mountain String Band, tell them to come to town?we can’t afford to drive anywhere else. ? The Straight Talk B.S.
(Responses to The Straight Talk Press in Sept. 18 issue)
So, there’s a gang of racist, sexist, left wing outlaws terrorizing the streets of Murfreesboro these days, eh? To borrow the words of the Dude, “That’s interesting man”.
Maybe their Right Wing Radar was on that day and they just decided to pick on you. They could be secret Obama operatives randomly placed to Elephant-bash unsuspecting citizens. Who knows for sure?
Or maybe they are just a group of humans sitting around discussing their opinions with one another. Is it that crazy to think that if Palin’s grandchild was mixed it might hurt McCain’s chances, just a little? Is it fair to call people racist just because they are forming opinions based on past performances or have you forgotten that the South still holds a pretty massive part of the Republican vote.
Was this “bunch of liberals” trying to hate on a woman or just stating a pretty obvious fact? (Also how is it possible for one woman to be sexist towards another woman?)
This election has and will have a lot to do with race and sex. So why is it that this group automatically became the close minded fascists with “warped ideas?”
Ideas? Really? I didn’t know speaking your mind automatically made you evil. It sounds like to me you took their opinions and turned them into your idea of who they are.
Here is an idea: give Obama back his soap box!

Writer’s Response:
I agree with not being a Democrat or Republican; I’ve carried it one step farther and created the Inclusive Party. Social issues are off the table; politics is about finance and building a better community and states’ rights. Join us. Read more on page 6.
Good article, if you were trying to take a shot at Liberals for being sexist and racist.
Granted, history has shown that in general, conservatives have been some of the most extreme people in American history; take the KKK, for example, or try searching the Baptist church.
But that is OK, let’s not use logic when making accusations. If you want to support McCain and Palin, by all means do, and please voice it, because we live in a country that gives freedom of speech. However, your article brings nothing to the table?it’s a personal opinion with a story that is irrelevant to either candidate. No different then me saying, hey McCain sucks because my neighbor down the street says he is a warmonger! Sounds silly doesn’t it?
