U.S. Navy sailors serve and protect from around the globe, and every sailor got their start somewhere. For U.S. Navy Musician 2nd Class Jesse Chaves, that journey began in Middle Tennessee.

Chaves, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and now a member of the U.S. 7th Fleet Band, performed in November in Lumut, Malaysia, as part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Malaysia 2024, a biennial exercise that seeks to enhance collaboration in the region. Now in its 30th year, CARAT highlights the longstanding role of regular collaboration for regional allies and partners to address maritime security.

The Royal Malaysian Navy Badan Kesenian (BAKES) joined the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet Band for the performance.
