Wine Around the Square Returns to Murfreesboro Square Oct. 24 to Support Local Breast Cancer Care

Wine, dinner and live music come together on the Murfreesboro Public Square on Saturday, Oct. 24, for the 15th annual Wine Around the Square, an evening fundraiser benefiting the Power of Pink Fund at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation.

The event takes place at businesses and stations scattered throughout historic downtown Murfreesboro, with a VIP Party beginning at 4:30 p.m. and the main event running from 6–9 p.m. The progressive wine and spirits tasting gives guests the opportunity to sample a wide array of beverages as they move around the Square.

At the center of the event is the Power of Pink Fund, which provides financial support for breast cancer-related services through Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford. According to the Foundation, proceeds help fund mammograms, screenings, diagnostic procedures, ultrasounds and MRI scans, as well as patient education, transportation and lodging for treatment and life-saving equipment.

The Foundation reports that the Power of Pink has raised more than $2 million over the past 16 years. That funding has helped provide more than 24,000 mammograms and screenings. The program has also provided rides to and from oncology appointments and distributed breast cancer education books to patients.

The event grew out of a personal experience involving Murfreesboro resident Patty Marschel. Marschel’s best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer, prompting her to begin raising money so that women in Rutherford County would have access to screening mammograms. She later joined with friends Rita Ash and Leslie Akins to organize a wine-and-cheese gathering that eventually outgrew the homes where it began.

The gathering moved to downtown Murfreesboro in 2011 and has since become a huge annual local gathering. The Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation says Wine Around the Square has become its largest source of funding for the program.

The event’s history also includes an effort to expand access to mobile mammography in the region. The Foundation says the Power of Pink program now supports two 3D mobile mammography coaches serving 26 counties.

For 2026, Stones River Total Beverages is again a major part of the evening, providing the wine and spirits for the tasting. The Alley on Main will once again provide dinner.

Guests will have access to a beer garden, rosé garden, the Big B–Stones River Total Beverage Alley and The Alley on Main After Party, in addition to the ongoing tastings and dinner. Ticketholders will receive a map upon check-in, detailing all of the participating stops and available beverages.

Main event tickets go for $100. For tickets and more information, visit give.stthomas.org/event/2026-wine-around-the-square/e813457.
