Rubiks Groove Headlines Rutherford County’s 250th Celebration of America on May 16

Rutherford County will celebrate music and local history on Saturday, May 16, at a free community gathering at Oaklands Park (427 Roberts St.), part of Rutherford County’s 250th Celebration of America.

Popular party band Rubiks Groove will perform, historian Jeffery J. McKenna will speak, attendees can partake in food, activities and vendors, local history buff Mr. Murfreesboro will be on hand, hyping up the crowd with his local pride, and the day will include tours of Oaklands Mansion and Evergreen Cemetery.

Rubiks Groove will lead a tour of sorts as well, a tour of American pop music of the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s, at the special America 250 afternoon. The band covers a little bit of everything from Michael Jackson to NSYNC, classic hip-hop to “Baby One More Time,” all set to an energetic, choreographed stage presence.
