5. Dead Land Haunted Woods

Open Fridays and Saturdays and Halloween from 7 p.m.-midnight through Nov. 2

New this year, Deadland Haunted Woods, located near Cedars of Lebanon State Park, has added The Vampire Crypt.

Approach it cautiously.

They also have the attraction Written in Blood, taking you inside book-inspired scenes including one from a Stephen King story, as well as a third attraction, The Curse, according to owner Dana Chapman.

“For the first time, we are selling Monster Kryptonite for the little kids,” Chapman said. “When they hold it, it will keep the monsters away.”

This is a family-friendly event with a bonfire and concessions.

9. Millers Thrillers

Opening one hour early on Oct. 19 and 26 for children who would rather visit the woods before it gets dark.

Millers Thrillers features new scenes this year. Zombie Paintball is a 30-minute ride through the woods. The Haunted Woods walk has expanded to a full hour, and a new interactive allows guests to choose to be competitors or audience members.
