Beginning Friday, June 2, visitors and natives of Rutherford County alike can come out and experience the 2023 Friday Night Live Concerts on the Murfreesboro Public Square. Each first Friday night of the month in June, July and August (as well as the third Friday in September) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., folks can come and experience an array of different musical styles from country music to R&B to oldies.

Attending the four-part concert series is absolutely free of charge. Visitors can dance the night away, or bring a lawn chair and relax by the courthouse. One can also choose to sample from a variety of food trucks onsite, as well as the many downtown bars and restaurants.

On Friday, June 2, Justin Kirk will kick off the Friday Night Live series with some country tunes. Self-described with his band as “A bunch of Mississippi boys making music,” this group has just released its 2023 single, “Sunday Breakdown.” The up-and-coming country music singer will be performing well-known country tunes from the ’80s and ’90s at the FNL concert.

On July 7, Entice Band will perform on the Square for the second Friday Night Live event. Making its name as a wedding band based in Nashville, Entice has been in the industry for 15 years, also playing at country clubs across the U.S. and corporate events in addition to many wedding receptions. “With some of the greatest music from the ’60s, ’70s and today in our song list, we are sure to have your favorite songs ready to go,” according to the band’s marketing materials. Entice consists of founding members Eugene, Renee and Derel Ewing, and also Virgus Ewing, Ron Ballentine and Rick Ward—highly talented professional Nashville musicians.

The Aug. 4 Friday Night Live will showcase Monsters of Yacht, also based in Nashville. This fast-growing band, a tribute to the “yacht rock” genre, has planted its flag into the look and sound of smooth music from the ’70s and early ’80s. Monsters of Yacht delivers rocking re-creations of songs from Christopher Cross, the Doobie Brothers, Toto, Robbie Dupree, Player, Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, Gerry Rafferty, Boz Scaggs, the Bee Gees and others.

Sept. 15 will feature the Ultimate Oldies Rock and Roll Show.
